Privacy Policy.

The short version: we only collect what you send us, we use it to reply to you and work with you, and we never sell it. The longer version is below.

Who we are

Design Wiz is a web design studio in London, run by Burkay K. ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about it, email burkay@designwiz.co.uk or call 07715 930444.

What we collect

We only collect personal data that you choose to give us, plus the basic technical data any website needs.

  • Enquiry form: your name, email address, company name (optional), your message and the page you sent it from.
  • Free website audit form: your name, email address, website address, business type and main goal (both optional), and the page you sent it from.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, phone, WhatsApp, Instagram or LinkedIn, including your name and contact details.
  • Client work: if we work together, the details we need to deliver your project and invoice you, such as your business details, billing address and the content you supply for your website.
  • Technical data: when you visit the site, our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic browser details to serve pages and keep the site secure. Our forms use a security check (Cloudflare Turnstile) that looks at browser and device signals to tell people from spam bots.

We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools on this website, and we don't buy mailing lists.

How we use it, and why

  • To reply to your enquiry or send your audit. This is in our legitimate interests (you've asked us to get in touch), and is a step you've asked for before entering into a contract.
  • To deliver your project and manage our working relationship. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To keep accounts and records. We keep invoices and related records because the law requires it.
  • To keep the site and forms secure. This is in our legitimate interests in preventing spam and abuse.

We won't add you to a marketing list or send you newsletters unless you ask us to. We never sell or rent your personal data.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the website and handle your messages. They only process your data on our instructions:

  • Cloudflare hosts this website, protects it from attacks and runs the Turnstile spam check.
  • Resend delivers the messages you send through our forms to our inbox.
  • Our email and messaging providers, and WhatsApp (Meta) if you choose to message us there.
  • Our accountant, for invoices and tax records if we work together.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. When they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge. We may also share data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and audit requests that don't lead to a project: up to 2 years, then deleted.
  • Client project records: for as long as we work together, plus 6 years for tax and accounting reasons.
  • Hosting and security logs: kept by Cloudflare for a short period, typically days or weeks.

Cookies

This website doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there's no cookie banner. The Turnstile security check on our forms may store a small amount of information in your browser, only to tell people from bots. It isn't used to track you across other websites.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
  • ask us to transfer it to you or another organisation.

To use any of these rights, email burkay@designwiz.co.uk. We'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if the way we handle personal data changes, and change the date at the top. Questions? Get in touch.
